Most hybrid systems are designed using different radiation principles for both systems. The woofer part is working like a monopole while the electrostatic part of the system is acting like a dipole source. In most cases the woofer part does not have the transparency like the electrostatic part. The Syncope is different in this respect and sounds very simulair to "open baffle" systems and is an affordable alternative for the more expensive "open baffle"systems.

Open Baffle principle
The so called "open baffle" is not using a cabinet for the woofer part. Coloration normaly present in a conventional cabinet is totaly absent and make this approach superiour comparing to other systems
